My Story

Behind the Words

As a writer, issues I wish to explore include mental health, faith, exposing the horrible practice of human trafficking, and the great tragedies of our past.

I want to remind those who read my work that tragedy can not be held captive between the pages of a history book. We mustn't become numb to the horrible things we have done or that have been done to us. As Mark Twain said, "History never repeats itself, but it does often rhyme."

I want to remind people that not everything is black and white. Healing is not black and white. Healing is red– the blood of Christ. Healing is practical and abstract. Healing is sideways and backward and upside down, but always trying to move forward.

I want to remind the world that mental illness is not a choice. Mental health complications can be results of trauma or they can be biological. As well, faith and disorders can coexist. God could cure me in a heartbeat, but instead, he gave me a testimony.
